My name is Jasmine and I’m from Italy. I wanted to study Chinese in China and having heard lots of positive feedback about LTL I decided to give it a go.
My friend studied here before and that was really important for me. I didn’t have a huge preference on Beijing or Shanghai, I just wanted to study and learn the language.
The multi-city program seemed perfect as I could experience both Shanghai and Beijing and thus see two different sides of China.
I read a lot about Beijing beforehand and to be able to see it with my own two eyes was incredible. There is so much to see and do in Beijing that I couldn’t possible see and do everything. I feel Beijing really represents China.

The program I joined was the Small Group Classes. I had a number of teachers, four overall, but they were all brilliant, I was really happy with them. I really liked them and the different methods they used. I couldn’t pick a favourite, they were very accommodating and friendly. I was keen to learn so I had many questions every lesson but they always had time for me and they satisfied my requests every time. I really appreciate that and I wish to thank them for helping me improve.
I’d recommend this kind of class to anyone who wishes to come to China and learn the language. The classes are small and intimate and you can develop friendships as you study the language.

Overall I’ve studied with three different teachers. All of them were great and had different strong sides to their teaching ways.
We managed to build good relationship with the teachers and other classmates.

Chengde is a small city, but it’s great for those who like to hike and go on long works. It’s very pretty and the surrounding area is very mountainous.
I’d recommend anyone thinking about taking the Chengde program to think about if you’d be happy having a simple daily routine.
There are only usually a handful of LTL students doing the program at the same time, and as the main aim is to speak Chinese the whole time you don’t hang out with the other students as much as in the other cities. If you’re not sure about this aspect, speak to LTL when you’re booking.
Most students sign up to the gym or go to the big park after to class. There aren’t so many places to visit in the inner city, but there are lots of places to visit on the outskirts, beautiful temples and mountains.
Don’t be afraid to ask for what you’d like when it comes to the homestay matching.
Most of the students like to stay near the city centre, close to the big park, malls and places to eat.
