We currently offer three different Multi City courses which take you to different parts of mainland China and Taiwan and to different LTL Schools! Each program has three different structures, Standard, Individual and Intensive.

The Metropolitan Program has three different packages:
- Standard Program – 20 hrs/week of small group classes (four hours per day)
- Intensive Program – 20 hrs/week of small group classes + 10 hrs/week of 1-on-1 Chinese classes (six hours per day)
- Individual Program – 20 hrs/week of 1-on-1 Chinese classes (four hours per day)

Multi City Combo – 3 Cities
Get out there and experience a totally different side of China as well as the big international cities of Shanghai and Beijing. In Chengde no English is spoken at all, so it’s a great way to immerse yourself into a mandarin-speaking environment.
The Multi City Combo Program has three different packages:
- Standard Program – 20 hrs/week of small group classes in Beijing & Shanghai, followed by 20 hrs/week 1-on-1 classes in Chengde (four hrs/day).
- Intensive Program – 20 hrs/week of small group classes + 10 hrs/week of 1-on-1 Chinese classes in Beijing & Shanghai, followed by 30 hrs/week 1-on-1 classes in Chengde (six hrs/day).
- Individual Program – 20 hrs/week of 1-on-1 Chinese class in all three cities (four hrs/day).

Chinese Immersion Program (Xi’an + Chengde)
Chinese Immersion is an LTL specialty and we can promise you a great experience where your Chinese level will increase hugely.
Whether you are taking a gap year just before university or you are on sabbatical from work, this is a incredible chance to try something out of the ordinary.
You will spend your time in two completely different locations but two that boast huge history, heritage and stacks of Chinese culture, starting with the beautiful city of Xi’an.
Moving on towards Chengde will be a completely new challenge where you will be thrust into an environment without a foreigner in site.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I travel between cities in China?
Transport to each of these cities is fairly simple.
All of the cities in mainland China are accessible by train and plane, but Taipei of course you’d need to fly to.
Beijing is a connection hub in the North and has convenient links to Xi’an, Shanghai, Chengde by train, and also Taipei and Beihai by plane.
Should I buy a Survival Kit before I come to China?
LTL’s survival kits are included in all of our multi-city programs so you don’t need to worry about purchasing one.
If you’re arranging a separate program you’d need to add it on to your program before you arrive in China. Take a look at our services page for more information.
I’m not sure about Chengde, it sounds very different?
Chengde will be very different to what you’re used to, especially if you’ve never been to China before.
It will even feel very different to spending time in one of China’s larger cities like Shanghai, Beijing or even smaller cities like Xi’an.
No-one will speak English there, so you really have to use your Chinese to get by. It’s a great opportunity to immerse yourself in a Chinese language environment and will help you to make progress very quickly.
However, we’d definitely recommend you to come visit us at one of our larger school locations like Beijing or Shanghai first – that’s why our multi city programs are designed to take you to Chengde as the last stop. This will give you some time to settle into China first, without jumping straight into the deep end.
Should I learn some Mandarin before i come to China?
This is totally up to you, but it’s not essential. Around 50% of all new LTL students come to China without speaking a word of Mandarin.
If you are a complete beginner and want to take group classes, you’ll need to begin your course on one of our starting dates in whichever city you go to first.
If you want to take individual classes you can begin on any Monday of the year in any city.
